Overview

H Carl Sturcke is the sole proprietor of the accounting firm of Sturcke & Associates, which he founded in 1991 following 26 years with KMPG, and predecessor firms. During his public accounting career, Mr Sturcke has had extensive experience with a wide variety of tax-exempt organizations, commercial enterprises, law firms and other service organizations, as well as personal taxation and financial planning issues. His solid technical background and experience in taxation, IRS and state tax audits and specialized industries enable him to explore solutions to problems in order to arrive at satisfactory conclusions. He is a member of the AICPA and the New Jersey Society of CPAs. He is licensed to practice public accounting in New Jersey, and Sturcke & Associates is a member of the Private Practice Section of the AICPA.

Carl is responsible for overseeing and providing professional services to each client of the Firm, principally individual taxpayers but also tax-exempt organizations, law firms and other service organizations.  Following his years with KPMG, Carl developed a full-service accounting firm providing audits, reviews, compilations, tax planning and compliance, computer consulting, surveys, and general business advisory services to a variety of clients, but currently he focuses primarily on over 300 individual taxpayers.

Carl was responsible for overseeing delivery of all professional services provided by the Firm to a variety of clients, principally commercial enterprises (high-tech manufacturing), tax-exempt organizations and law firms.  He had direct responsibility for local office training and interoffice audit engagements.  He developed an audit practice that grossed $700,000 annually, having started with no client base following years of leadership responsibilities in the Firm’s Executive Office.  Carl served as many as 100 different clients annually, requiring concurrent supervision of many professionals assigned to those clients.

After seven years in Hurdman & Cranstoun’s New York practice office serving a variety of clients, including Avon Products and the The Sperry & Hutchinson Company, Carl joined the Firm’s Executive Office of Professional Standards, where his primary responsibility was quality control for the entire Firm.  Hurdman & Cranstoun merged in 1979 to form KMG Main Hurdman, where Carl continued his quality control responsibilities.  From 1985 to 1987, Carl was responsible for all professional development activities of the Firm.  In that capacity, he was responsible for selection and/or development of course material, delivery of programs, and administration of Firm policies; managed a $2 million annual budget; and supervised up to 13 full-time professional and administrative staff and numerous part-time professionals recruited from other offices.  In 1987, KMG merged with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co to form KPMG.
