Overview

H Carl Sturcke is the sole proprietor of the accounting firm of Sturcke & Associates, which he founded in 1991 following 26 years with KMPG, and predecessor firms. During his public accounting career, Mr Sturcke has had extensive experience with a wide variety of tax-exempt organizations, commercial enterprises, law firms and other service organizations, as well as personal taxation and financial planning issues. His solid technical background and experience in taxation and specialized industries enable him to explore solutions to problems in order to arrive at satisfactory conclusions. He is a member of the AICPA and the New Jersey Society of CPAs, and is the Treasurer of three (3) nonprofit organizations: The New Jersey Historical Society in Newark, NJ; Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Essex Fells, NJ; and the Essex County Running Club. He is licensed to practice public accounting in New Jersey and New York. Sturcke & Associates is a member of the Private Practice Section of the AICPA and has successfully completed peer reviews of its accounting and auditing practice.

Professional Experience

Sturcke & Associates - Upper Montclair, New Jersey 1991 to Present - Sole Proprietor

Responsible for overseeing and providing professional services to each client of the Firm, principally tax-exempt, law firms and other service industry organizations. Developed a full-service accounting firm providing audits, reviews, compilations, tax planning and compliance, computer consulting, surveys, and general business advisory services to the law firms, small business owners and tax-exempt organizations.

KMPG - Short Hills, New Jersey 1987 to 1991 - Engagement Partner

Responsible for overseeing delivery of all professional services provided by the Firm to a variety of clients, principally commercial enterprises (high-tech manufacturing), tax-exempt organizations, and law firms. Direct responsibility for local offices training and interoffice audit engagements.

Developed an audit practice that grossed $700,000 annually, having started with no client base following years of leadership responsibilities in the Firm's Executive Office. Effectively used cross-selling skills to introduce professionals from the Tax and Management Consulting groups, which led to $150,000 of billings annually.  Directed accounting, audit and tax services to tax-exempt organizations, including those that received Federal grants and needed to comply with OMB requirements.  Served as many as 100 different clients annually, requiring concurrent supervision of many professionals assigned to many different clients.

KMG Main Hurdman - New York, New York and Roseland, New Jersey 1985 to 1987 - National Director of Professional Development

Responsible for all professional development activities of the Firm, including selection and/or development of course material, delivery of programs, and administration of Firm policies; managed $2 million annual budget; supervised up to 13 full-time professional and administrative staff; and numerous part-time professionals recruited from other offices.
